Community Impact

Mentorship is two-way, learning and development partnership where the young person needs are placed at the centre. Because young people’s brains are still developing, mentoring can support that process through back-and-forth interaction like the volley in a good game of ping-pong. Mentoring is a key way to give youth experience with the essential back-and-forth development, making them better able to deal with and overcome life’s adversities.

Financial Breakdown

The cost to support the relationship of one Big and one Little for one year is $1,500. For every $1 invested in our programming returns $23 to society through taxes, higher incomes, volunteerism, and charitable donations. Financial donations allow us to be there for kids when they need you the most by placing a caring BBBS mentor in their life.

Our Philosophy

We serve children and youth ages 5-25. Many children and youth struggle with societal barriers and face adversities in their lives. Facing prolonged adversity creates toxic stress in the brain that can negatively impact development. With the support of a mentor, these risks can be reduced or even avoided and youth can reach their full potential. We aim to provide life-changing mentoring relationships to children & youth who need them the most.

Programs and Services

Mentorship enables children & youth to realize their full potential. Designed to meet the diverse needs of our community, Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentoring program provide young people with a positive, adult role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with, either in a one-on-one, group based or school setting. We serve over 600 children & youth every year and have a waitlist of over 150 Little Brothers & Sisters.
