More about us

Community Impact

We prioritize the most vulnerable, including pregnant cats, kittens, and those with injuries or medical problems requiring urgent vet care. Over the years we have grown to the point where we bring over 700 stray and unowned cats into our program every year. SCAT’s funding comes from donations, fundraising activities and corporate grants; we do not receive any government or municipal funding. We rely on the generosity of those who share our goal of reducing street cat populations by caring for stray cats and kittens.

Financial Breakdown

Financial donations are used to pay for our veterinary bills, by far the largest expense we have. SCAT prioritizes quality of life and does not make health decisions based on financial costs of that specific animal. We always look at what is the best treatment and outcome for that animal, often resulting in medical treatment at the VMC.

Our Philosophy

SCAT Street Cat Rescue Program Inc.’s focus is promoting quality of care and quality of life for street cats through fostering, adoption, and TNRM (Trap, Neuter, Return, Manage) programs. We are actively trying to reduce the overpopulation by advocating across Saskatchewan for TNRM programs and bylaws exceptions. These programs mean that cats will be spayed or neutered, thereby no longer contributing to the population of cats. Saskatoon and Saskatchewan cannot foster and adopt their way out of the cat crisis.
