Personal Hygiene packs with basic items are needed and are used when individuals come to us without anything and have no means to access these items.

STR8 UP clients are always in need of new underwear, socks, sweatshirts and sweatpants.

Community Impact

STR8 UP is the primary leader in gang prevention/intervention in Saskatchewan, and is often sought out for its experience in working with street gang members. The impact STR8 UP has on the community is measured in the successes the members have in transforming their lives. Those who are caught up in the gang lifestyle face numerous barriers that often hinder their positive re-integration into the community. STR8 UP provides crucial support.

Our Philosophy

STR8 UP assists individuals in mastering their own destiny and liberating themselves from gangs, addictions and criminal street lifestyles. The focus of STR8 UP is relationships. In their growing years, these young people were too often mistreated, abandoned and rejected. The new world into which they enter with STR8 UP is based on cooperation. Positive and healing relationships are based on mutual trust, respect, compassion, honesty and humility.

Programs and Services

STR8 UP provides a variety of services and cultural programming. This includes advocacy work and outreach, connecting members with community resources, referrals to other services/agencies, transportation to/from medical appointments, probation meetings, court hearings; assisting in times of need – i.e. loss of housing, personal or family conflict, etc.; and support for those currently incarcerated and once released.

One Small Step is committed to truth and reconciliation and recognizes with gratitude that we operate on Treaty 6 territory and the Homeland of the Métis.
