More Ways to Help

Literacy affects opportunities.

Literacy is linked to economic and personal success; the jobs people find, the salaries they make, and their ability to participate in their community are all directly related to their literacy skills.

Foundations Learning & Skills Saskatchewan provides training and support for all of its volunteers, and works hard to ensure everyone – learners and volunteers alike – feels like a part of the team.

More about us

Community Impact

We describe our adult, financial, and family literacy programs as creating access to information. Reading, writing and numeracy skill development are particularly important for adults and families in our province. Literacy is linked to economic and personal success. Our literacy programs help people solve challenges and assist them in a rapidly changing environment. Literacy is the foundation of all skills and the pre-requisite for economic development.

Financial Breakdown

Foundations Learning & Skills Saskatchewan advances literacy and learning through the work of staff, trained volunteers, and community partners. Your donation provides quality literacy supports and services and will make a difference in the community. All our programs are evaluated continuously and we are funded based on programs results.

Our Philosophy

We have five belief statements that guide our decision making. We believe everyone has the right to learn, regardless of age. We believe strong literacy skills are not attained by chance. We believe communities have a right to responsive and effective literacy programs. We believe lifelong learning habits contribute to strong and resilient communities. We believe our own cultural perspectives are limited and therefore we will not make assumptions.

Programs and Services

Foundations Learning & Skills Saskatchewan has four program areas. Our adult tutoring program provides one-to-one tutoring. Our financial literacy programs help navigate financial systems and build money management habits. Families can support their child’s emerging literacy skills through hands-on learning activities in our family literacy programs and our children’s literacy program works with school-aged students in grades 2-4 on reading strategies.
