Financial gifts

We serve young refugees from rural villages as well as economic immigrants from urban centres, and everyone in between. Your support enables us to remain nimble and responsive to everyone.

Volunteer time:

The work we do here at GGP would not be possible without the dedication of the many individuals who volunteer their time to support our newcomer clients! Volunteers provide individual skills-building support to participants in computer, cooking, skating, and swimming classes, and lend assistance with group outings through the Family, Fun & Fit program to destinations such as the Western Development Museum or to Wanuskewin Heritage Park. We also need volunteers to assist students in our ESL classrooms, support newcomer children in our Homework Help program, provide language interpretation services, as well as mentor clients who need one-on-one assistance studying for citizenship exams or practicing their English language skills.

More about us

Community Impact

For over two decades, GGP has equipped newcomers with the knowledge, skills, and connections to become integrated, thriving community members. Our cross-trained staff and dedicated volunteers help clients adapt easier and faster: 80% of clients report feeling a greater sense of belonging after GGP programs. 85% of clients have greater confidence in their English abilities, and 90% of clients say GGP services and supports help them accomplish their goals.

Financial Breakdown

The newcomers we serve have highly diverse backgrounds, levels of English and tech literacy, abilities, and barriers to settlement. Your donations enable us to be nimble and responsive to needs as they arise and change. Your donations also ensure that programs—and client progress—continue without interruption due to funding gaps.

Our Philosophy

No client is ever a number; we get to know each person’s needs, fears, and goals. Through partnerships, trainings, and events, we work to help the community recognize our shared responsibility in helping newcomers integrate and thrive. We offer guidance to make local services more inclusive and accessible, and advocate for what we know: that immigrants and refugees, when given the opportunity, make valuable contributions to all aspects of Canadian society.
