We hope you had a beautiful summer, filled with family, friends, and fun. For many in our community, summer was hot and challenging. Finding somewhere safe to sleep at night or water to drink made the days difficult. Coping with higher grocery costs while juggling kids home from school made the days long and the nights stressful for many families here in our city.
At One Small Step we want to make it easy for you to connect with people in our community who need your help. In the quiet days of August, we were thrilled to see that 3000 of you took time to look for charities in Saskatoon to support. Some of you found volunteer opportunities you’d never seen before (head over to Saskatoon Public School Foundation for new opportunities or click on volunteer to see which other orgs. need you today.) Many of you donated directly to a charity—in fact, around 1 in 10 visitors to our site click on the donate now button. Lots of you discovered which charities needed items—perhaps bringing baby items to Sanctum Care Group or food to Friendship Inn or Saskatoon Foodbank and Learning Centre.
This week, White Buffalo Youth Lodge have been gathering donations for families who need support from James Smith Cree Nation. They’ve coordinated support and collected donations. You can head to their page to connect with them directly if this is how you want to help today.
Thank you to each and every one of you, and to our sponsors for seeing our vision and supporting what we aim to do: connect you to local need directly.
